Two days ago, in Frankfurt, Germany, we successfully performed a groundbreaking leg lengthening procedure utilizing a new combined approach. This innovative method integrates the use of an internal nail with the modified external fixation system known as Salamehfix 1. The procedure was carried out at a state-of-the-art hospital that has recently been established in Frankfurt, offering the latest advancements in surgical technology and patient care. I had the privilege of collaborating with my esteemed colleague, Dr. Michael Schmidt, whose expertise and partnership were invaluable throughout the process.
This particular surgery is a significant milestone as it incorporates my newly developed, modified LON (Lengthening Over Nail) method specifically designed for tibia lengthening. This method, originally conceived by Dr. Ghassan Salameh, has undergone refinements to enhance its precision, effectiveness, and overall patient experience. By combining the stability of the internal nail with the adaptability of the Salamehfix external system, we are achieving outstanding results in terms of safety, efficiency, and recovery.
The follow-up with the patient is proceeding smoothly, with no complications thus far, underscoring the success of this innovative approach. This procedure represents a step forward in the field of limb lengthening and orthopedic surgery, pushing the boundaries of what is possible and providing new hope for patients seeking effective solutions for their needs.
